The Global Warming Mystique

As the typical taxpayer, have you ever pondered how many of your dollars are in some way being spent in furtherance of Climatic Global Warming Climate Change ventures. How much do the various Universities, Governments or even the United Nations spend pursuing the latest Climatic agenda nonsense? You are better off not asking. The answer is staggering and has recently been rated in the Billions leading to the Trillions. Even if you do ask, answers from these various institutions are not exactly forthcoming, available or even accurate. Global Warming now carries the earmarks of a cult or religion. The assumption is in, as is the fix. Global Warming, a fabrication of Mr. Al Gore, has now taken the premier spot in terms of Federal dollars, University grants and the ensuing changes to business. Life, in general, will never be the same. All of this has been done under the mystique of Global Warming.

Greenhouse gasses, those other than CO2 which has been found to be beneficial to the planet, may be hazardous, even polluting, however the cult-like almost religious dedication to its effects are unnecessary. The problem, scientifically verifiable or not, has become the main Pillar of an ideology and has become another reason to create an us and them division within the Country. On the left, we have believers in Global Warming.For them, no amount of objective evidence will dissuade them that Global Warming is not a threat and that the main polluters of this world need to be brought under control. On the right, we have the unbelievers; especially those in responsible positions as they are equally dug in. Their position is that they will not be pushed around by believers. If there is pollution, it needs to be brought under control but they are not about to relinquish their livelihoods to a group of ideologically driven,perceived radicals that do not have their best interest in mind. These opposing views take cover under the mystique of the issue of Global Warming.

Consider the following quote, taken directly off of a Greenpeace web page in Dec/07 Now that Bali is done, things are moving forward on the global policy front. The Bush Admin was sent packing back to Washington, tail firmly between legs but not without weakening the agreement. The fight now comes back to Capitol Hill where there are efforts afoot to try to craft more global warming legislation in 2008. And apparently the Denial Machine has also come back to DC.”

This is not an attitude that is respectful of others or their viewpoints! To discuss the Bush Administration as having “their tail firmly between their legs”is far from a respectful approach. What is it about the mystique of Global Warming that prompts the issue to override integrity? This is this same Administration that has to have the confidence and respect of the world when a different topic is in play; that of the Radical Islamic threat. This President as well as any other President, does not need this form of non constructive criticism from within the Country.

If Global Warming is the threat Al Gore portrays it to be, let it stand or fall on its own scientific merits. If not, then the ideologically driven advocates need to back off. This doesn’t mean to go find a new cause with which to achieve the same Country dividing purpose,it means to alter the goal so that everyone is on board with the program. The mystique of Global Warming or any other concept that frames fellow Countrymen as “believers or non-believers” is sure to cause division and lead to failure.

During WWII, this Country pulled together to fight 2 clearly defined enemies. The world was taught that the “right” side, the side of decency and freedom can and will prevail. Today, as everyone is conscious of our image and position, internationally, we Americans look like a confused bunch of bickering children.

Recently, some 400 Scientists have come out against the precepts of Global Warming calling that particular science Junk Science. As their claims become challenged, there will be two groups of people; Winners and Losers. If they are right and their claims hold up under scrutiny, those who have so aggressively promoted Global Warming will look like ideological fools and may find themselves legally liable for funds they have spent pursuing their goals. If they are wrong, those funds will be found to have been misspent anyway because research will not repair the problem.

What is most puzzling is how and why Global Warming has gone from a scientifically quantified process to an ideologically driven philosophy. Perhaps we need to look at our leaders to gain insight into this question. Perhaps we need to look into our own hearts and find a better definition for “good”
